    General Information About This Release Fabric OS version 3.0.1b firmware runs and delivers the full potential of the FC Entry Switch 8B and FC Switch 8B products. Both switches are 8-port, auto-sensing 2 Gb/Sec and 1 Gb/Sec Fibre Channel switches. Overview This release note includes a brief description of the new features and enhancements made in Fabric OS version 3.0.1b.

    New Features and Enhancements New Features ISL Trunking Interswitch Link (ISL) Trunking is an optionally licensed product (Performance Upgrade (Option 001)) available on the FC Entry Switch 8B and FC Switch 8B products with Fabric OS version 3.0.1b. ISL Trunking is managed using telnet commands or the Web Tools interface. The ISL Trunking feature allows up to four ISLs, connections between two switches through an Expansion Port (E_Port), to merge logically into a single link.

    New Features and Enhancements Frame Filtering Based Performance Monitoring - Provides frame statistics based on contents of frame. The application of this monitoring can be used to collect statistics based on FC_Type, Logical Unit Number (LUN), and read/write. Reports - An existing report can be selected from a list of reports that are predefined. In some cases, you can supply the object to be monitored and graphed.

    New Features and Enhancements Alarms The following alarm notification methods have been added in Fabric OS version 3.0.1b: • Email Alert - Sends alarms to pre-configured Email addresses. • Remote Agent Notification (RAN) - Sends alarms to remote applications using Fabric Access.

    New Features and Enhancements Routing Tab: The new Routing tab, available from the Admin View, can be used to view the routing table and to set the link cost for the selected ports and static route.
