Issues and Workarounds This issue has been identified and confirmed by Microsoft. For details, see the URL: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;242167&. There are two workarounds for this issue: ■ Always use a single instance of the SwitchExplorer on NT/4.0 and IE 5.0/5.5 ■ Update your Internet Explorer software to IE 6.0 SP1 Alternatively, it is possible that you can obtain a workaround directly from Microsoft for this problem.
  • Page 21 Issues and Workarounds Web tools, Java Bug If a dialog box is displayed from the switch admin window of the Web Tools and the user selects another dialog box from Web Tools, a Windows display error results. This display error is a known defect in Java 1.3. The issue is documented at the http://java.sun.com/ following location: (bug ID 4763605).
  • Page 22 Issues and Workarounds Configuration Local Copy Update When using the configdefault command to overwrite current parameters, the configdownload command may not update the local copy of the configuration parameters. To fix this problem, perform a fastboot or switch reboot in order to see changes made in the local copy (RAM).
  • Page 23 Issues and Workarounds Command Password If you change the Command password while the fabric is not stable (fabric reconfiguration), the new password may be stored locally on the primary switch but not on other switches in the fabric. The result is an inconsistent view. The reason this situation occurs is that the Command password saves the password locally before distributing it to the fabric in Secure mode.

  • Page 25 Issues and Workarounds E-Port Down Messages There is problem with the E-port down message. It shows up twice, once when an E-Port goes down and again when the E-port comes up. The E-port up message does follow. We hope to fix this problem in a future release. To avoid this problem ignore the second E-port down message.
