General Hydraulic System Problems (continued)
Problem
The traction response is sluggish.
Traction jerky when starting.
Neutral is difficult to find or unit operates
in one direction only.
No traction exists in either direction and
the engine speed remains constant.
The differential lock will not engage.
Troubleshooting: General Hydraulic System Problems
Possible Cause
The hydraulic fluid is very cold.
The hydraulic fluid level in the hydraulic
tank is low.
The traction pump bypass valve is open
or damaged.
Engine RPM is too low.
The brakes are dragging or binding.
The hydrostat/hydraulic pump check
valve is not seating or is damaged.
The charge pressure is low.
The hydrostat/hydraulic pump is worn
or damaged.
The traction control linkage is
incorrectly adjusted, disconnected,
binding or damaged.
The hydrostat/hydraulic pump check
valve is not seating or is damaged.
The traction control linkage is
incorrectly adjusted, disconnected,
binding or damaged.
The hydrostat/hydraulic pump check
valve is not seating or is damaged.
The hydrostat/hydraulic pump is worn
or damaged.
The brakes are dragging or binding.
The hydraulic fluid level in the hydraulic
tank is low.
The hydrostat/hydraulic pump check
valve is not seating or is damaged.
The traction pump bypass valve is open
or damaged.
The charge pressure is low.

Corrective Action
Allow the hydraulic fluid to warm by
safely operating the machine at rest.
Adjust the hydraulic fluid level.
Close or replace the traction pump
bypass valve(s).
Increase the engine RPM.
Check and replace the brake pads.
Check and replace the check valve.
Verify the charge pressure.
Verify the traction pump operation and
replace if necessary.
Check an adjust the traction control
linkage.
Check and replace the check valve.
Check an adjust the traction control
linkage.
Check and replace the check valve.
Verify the traction pump operation and
replace if necessary.
Check and replace the brake pads.
Adjust the hydraulic fluid level.
Check and replace the check valve.
Close or replace the traction pump
bypass valve(s).
Verify the charge pressure.
Verify the traction pump operation and
replace if necessary.
Check and repair the hydraulic pump.
Test and replace the valve solenoid if
necessary.
Clean the solenoid valve
and replace the seals.
Replace solenoid valve if necessary.
