Description
Use the stp enable command to enable MSTP globally in system view, on a port in interface view, or
on multiple ports in port group view.
Use the undo stp enable command to disable MSTP globally or on the port(s).
The device is globally MSTP-disabled by default. After you enable MSTP globally, MSTP is enabled on
all ports.
Configured in system view, the setting takes effect globally. Configured in Layer 2 Ethernet interface
view, the setting takes effect on the current interface only. Configured in port group view, the setting
takes effect on all ports in the port group. Configured in Layer 2 aggregate interface view, the setting
takes effect only on the aggregate interface. Configured on a member port in an aggregation group,
the setting can take effect only after the port leaves the aggregation group.
After you enable MSTP, the device works in STP-compatible mode, RSTP mode or MSTP mode
depending on the MSTP mode setting.
After being enabled, MSTP dynamically maintains the spanning tree status of VLANs based on
received configuration BPDUs; after being disabled, it stops maintaining the spanning tree status.
