INSPECTION
Seat belts and attaching parts can affect the vital components and systems of a vehicle.
Therefore, they should be inspected carefully and replaced with genuine parts only.
D Seat belt
Its webbing or strap should be free from damage.
D Retractor assembly with ELR
It should lock webbing when pulled quickly.
The front seat belt retractor assembly should pass the above inspection and should lock webbing even when
tilted (approx. 155) toward the fore and aft or right and left directions.
D Anchor bolt
Anchor bolts should be torqued to specification.
D Belt latch
It should be secure when latched.
INSTALLATION
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following.
D Seat belt anchor bolts should have an unified fine thread (7/16–20 UNF). Under no circumstances should any
different sized or metric screw threads be used.
D Be sure to tighten seat belt anchor bolts (a) and screw (b) to specified torque.
2ND SEAT BELT (IF EQUIPPED)
WARNING:
Be sure to read SERVICE PRECAUTIONS in this section before starting to work and observe every
precaution during work.
REMOVAL
Remove 2nd seat belts.
Lap-shoulder belt type
1. Upper anchor
2. Lower anchor
3. Retractor assembly
4. Buckle
5. 2nd seat belt
RESTRAINT SYSTEM 10-5
Tightening Torque

(a): 35 N
m (3.5 kg-m, 25.5 lb-ft)
