Servicing Components

This section includes the following removal and installation procedures for customer-
replaceable and field-replaceable components in the Oracle Server X5-8:
Section Description
Upgrade server from four to eight CMODs.
Remove and install fan modules (FMs).
Remove and install power supplies (PSUs)
Remove and install the font indicator panel
(FIM).
Remove and install CPU modules (CMODs).
Remove and install server storage drives.
Remove and install PCIe cards and dual
PCIe card carriers (DPCCs).
Removing and installing SMOD
components.
Replacing the midplane assembly.

Upgrade the Server from Four to Eight CMODs

If you have a server configured with four CMODs, you can expand the server's processing
capabilities by upgrading the server configuration to eight CMODs.
Obtain the CMOD upgrade kit. The kit contains the components required to upgrade the server.
