Note: If you need to add or remove expanders or keypads from the bus then: a) Delete the
device before removing it, see page 56. b) Make sure that you remove all power
from the system before physically disconnecting the device.
Adding Expanders (Address Bus Device)
To add an expander to the bus use the Installer Menu option Detectors/Devices – Address
Bus Device.
When you add an expander the control unit gives the expander the next free device
number and allocates a block of zones, depending on device type (see page 27).
If the expander you are adding already has a bus device number stored within it, from a
previous installation, then this will cause problems in the new installation. Always ensure
that you default the bus device address before adding it to the bus. You can do this either
manually or by using the option Detectors/Devices – Wired Expander – Delete Expander.

Note: Use the Detectors/Devices – Address Bus Device to give EXP-PSUs a bus address.
Editing Expanders
To name an expander or assign it to one or more partitions, use the Detectors/Devices –
Wired Expander – Edit Expander option. (Radio Expanders have a similar menu option.)
When you enter the Edit Expander option the keypad display will show the first item in a
list of the expanders known to the control unit. Press  or  to scroll up or down the list. If
you wish to find out where the expander is located press "*". The displayed expander will
sound a continuous tone. Press "#" to stop the tone.
When the Expander you wish to edit appears press  to select it.
Naming Expanders
The control unit allows you to give each expander a name. The name appears in the log,
in alerts, and when programming the expanders.
Partitions (Allocating to Expanders)
You can assign each expander to one or more partitions. When assigned to a partition an
expander will:
Give notification tones for the associated partitions through the expander's loudspeaker
(if one is connected).
Control the response to tampers for the associated partitions. If any associated
partition is set then a tamper will cause an unconfirmed alarm. If there is an
outstanding unconfirmed alarm then this will cause a confirmed alarm to be generated.
When delivered from the factory, or if you restore the control unit to factory settings, then
all expanders will belong to partition 1.
Once you have entered the Edit Expander - Partitions option, press  or  to scroll
through the list of partitions followed by  or  to allocate/deallocate the expander to
each partition as necessary.
If you wish to allocate/deallocate the expander to many partitions you can use the "All
Partitions" option (in between the first and last partitions on the menu) to either allocate or
deallocate the expander to all partitions in one operation. Once you have carried out this
operation you can then scroll through the partition list and change the allocation of
expanders as necessary (you must assign the expander to at least one partition).
