Each option in the Curves area is defined as follows:
View: Defines which color separation(s) is/are present in the
display graph.
Edit: Defines which curve (C, M, Y, or K) is available for
editing. Only one curve can be edited at a time.
Control Points: Define the exact point on the curve which is
being changed. You may have more than one control point on
a given curve.
Comment: Enables you to input descriptive information
specific to the curve.
Creating a new User TRC
To create a new User TRC, complete the following steps:
1. Open the Color Manager.
2. Select the User TRCs tab.
3. Select the [New TRC...] button. The New TRC window will
open.
4. Type a unique name in the box.
5. Press <Enter>
6. Select the color separation curve you wish to begin editing.
NOTE: By default, the Cyan curve is selected to edit first; also, by
default, all curves are selected for viewing. To "turn off" any curve
that is obscuring the one you wish to edit, you may choose to
deselect its corresponding "View" check box.
7. Within the Curves graph window, position the mouse on the
active curve and click and drag the curve into the desired
shape. Alternatively, you can set a control point or multiple
control points that will change the active curve into a more
complex shape. This is the recommended practice if you know
exactly what digital CMYK output you would like, given a
CMYK input. This control is for very specific C, M, Y, or K
changes.
NOTE: After entering the "x" and "y" coordinates for the control
point, you must select [Add] to commit changes. You will see a
box in the graph on the line; this box may be clicked and dragged
to another point to reshape the curve. Remember also that you
may set multiple control points per curve.
8. Open each curve for editing in turn and perform your
corrections.
9. Once you are satisfied with your selections, select [OK] to
commit all changes and exit the New TRC window.
