Using the Image Quality tab

NOTE: PS/PDF default font rasterizer properties can be
selected in this field.
Resolution: Displays the resolution of each RIP.
Settings can be modified for PCL, and PostScript/PDF Raster
Image Processors (RIP). Resolution options vary by decomposer.
NOTE: If you do not have a valid PostScript license, the system
will not display PostScript IQ options.
NOTE: TIFF properties do not contain unique settings for this
release of DocuSP and therefore, settings are not adjustable.
The Image Quality tab enables you to perform the following tasks:
Adjust image quality:
Modify PCL image quality settings.
Modify PostScript or PDF image quality settings.
NOTE: The default font rastrerizer for PostScript or PDF
raster image processors is different between 300 dpi and 600
dpi. The 300 dpi default rasterizer is the Xerox Font Solution
(XFS), but XFS has a restricted set of fonts compared to
Adobe Type Manager (ATM). If a font is declared "Not
Available" while using 300 dpi, the user should select ATM as
the font rasterizer and resubmit the job.
NOTE: If you do not have a valid PostScript license, the
system will display PostScript IQ options.
Restore default settings.
Adjusting image quality
To adjust image quality:
1. Open Printer Manager and select the Image Quality tab.
2. Adjusting PostScript/PDF image quality:
NOTE: If you do not have a valid PostScript license, the
system will not display PostScript IQ options.
a. Double-click the row in the Raster Image Processor list
which contains the PostScript/PDF processor and
resolution you want to modify.
b. Select a True Type Spot Size value. This selection allows
the darkness of the scalable fonts to be adjusted.
c. Adjust the Stroke Thickening to control the thickness of
fine lines created by the PostScript stroke command.
