Using the ASCII FAB
ASCII, the American (National) Standard Code for Information
Interchange, is a standard character-to-number encoding widely
used in the computer industry. ASCII jobs are decomposed using
the PostScript decomposer. ASCII jobs may be decomposed by
the PCL decomposer if the document or PDL format selected at
submission is PCL.Set ASCII Decomposer options by selecting
the ASCII FAB.
NOTE: If there is no PostScript license on your system, the
PostScript FAB will not appear, and since all ASCII jobs will be
processed either by the ASCII decomposer or the PCL
decomposer, PCL and ASCII will be combined on one FAB,
called PCL/ASCII.
To use the ASCII FAB:
1. Select a font from the Fonts list. If a font isn't selected then the
default font, Courier, is used.
2. Select an Orientation to specify the positioning of the printed
image on the page.
3. Select the desired font size.
4. Select [Override] for any options whose settings should take
precedence over settings associated with individual jobs.
5. Select [OK], or continue setting queue options. Your selection
will display on the ASCII FAB.
In addition to creating and modifying queue properties, you can
also perform global operations when working with the queue list.
You can access queue menu selections by performing one of the
following:
Select a queue and select form the Queue menu.
Right-click a queue and select from the menu.
Select a queue and click a toolbar icon.
