Setting up TCP/IP
The Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Socket set up option allows the System Administrator to configure
a Socket Gateway on the system controller. It is primarily used by
mainframe clients for submitting LCDS data streams; however, it
can be used to submit any of the other supported data streams.
The TCP/IP Socket supports streaming if the designated queue
input value is set to Stream.
Broken client connections can be restored and recoveries from
malfunctions that require a controller boot are also accomplished
using the Socket Gateway.
To set up TCP/IP:
1. Logon to the DocuSP Controller as a System Administrator.
2. From the DocuSP Setup menu, select [Network
Configuration...].
3. If it is not already enabled, click on the [Enable IP] check box
to enable it.
4. DHCP is the TCP/IP addressing method enabled by factory
default. When this system was first powered on, it should have
contacted your DHCP server and obtained an IP Address,
Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway address. These items
should now be displayed within the IP Address tab. If they are
not, click [Apply] to let the system contact your DHCP server.
Otherwise, click on the [IP Configuration Method] selection
arrow to set a static IP address as stated below.
5. If DHCP addressing was unsuccessful, or is not desired,
select [Static IP Configuration] from the IP Configuration pull-
down menu.
NOTE: Alternatively, you can select [BOOTP Enabled], if a
BOOTP server is available.
6. Select the IP Address tab.
7. In the available text boxes, if they are not already displayed,
enter a valid IP Address for this device, the Subnet Mask for
your network, and the Default Gateway address (if used) for
your network.
8. In the Hostname box, if you will be communicating with this
device over the Internet, or are using DNS, WINS, or NIS to
resolve host names to IP Addresses on your network, enter a
unique host name for this device.
9. If you will be using DNS for Hostname resolution on your
network, select the DNS tab.
a. If it is not already enabled by factory default, click on the
[Enable DNS] check box to enable it.
b. Mark the [Enable Dynamic DNS Registration] check box if
your network uses a dynamic DNS server to automatically
