features if you want to import files from external media or from
other locations on the UNIX file system or, if you want to export
profiles to different media.

This feature allows System Administrators to create and manage
the configuration of third-party finishing devices. These devices
are connected to the printer through a bypass transport and are
referred to as external finishers. The DocuSP software supports
DFA Level 1-compliant, third-party finishers.
An external finishing device may have one or more finisher
profiles. Finisher profiles contain the configuration settings of the
finishing device that control different capabilities of the finisher.
Online finishing profiles may be used to finish printed jobs and
may be specified as an output option for a queue.
External finisher setup overview
To set up an external finishing device on your printing system,
perform the following steps in order:
1. Create the device profile.
2. Create one or more finisher profiles to use with the device.
3. Place a device profile online to allow hardware access.
4. Enable the finisher profiles to allow software processing.
Creating a device profile
The first step in setting up and enabling an external finisher is to
create the device profile.
NOTE: Refer to the documentation provided with the finishing
device for the specifications and parameters needed to set up the
device.
To create a device profile:
1. Open the Printer Manager and select the Finishing tab.
2. Select an external finisher.
3. The first step in setting up and enabling an external finisher is
to create the device profile.
