Saving tray settings
The System Administrator or Operator can save tray settings. The
Save Tray Settings feature allows you to save the current tray
settings to a file. The file you create can be accessed to restore
programmed tray settings. You can configure different tray
settings for individual job requirements, and then load each tray
setting when needed. You can program one job to use 8.5" x 14"/
white stock and another for 8.5" x 11"/blue stock. This eliminates
the need to reprogram trays each time you run different jobs. You
also can add, edit, delete, and overwrite tray settings.
To save tray settings:
1. Open Printer Manager.
2. Select the Paper Trays tab.
3. Program the paper trays for the job you plan to print.
4. Select a tray and perform one of the following:
Right-click and select [Save Settings...].
Select [Save Settings...] from the Tray menu.
5. Enter a tray settings name in the Name field.
6. Enter any tray settings comments.
7. Select [OK] to save your tray settings. If you enter a file name
that has been saved previously, a dialog opens asking if you
want to overwrite the file. Select [Yes] to overwrite the file, or
[No] to enter an new name.
NOTE: Tray settings can be backed up on one system and then
restored on another system. See Backing up and restoring the
system and configuration files and Save Tray Settings caveats
and limitations for additional information.
Save Tray Settings caveats and limitations
The following save tray settings caveats and limitations may be
encountered if tray settings are backed up on one system and
then restored on another system. These caveats and limitations
are not encountered when you load a saved tray setting on the
same system it was saved on.
The following conditions cause errors that prevent the operation
form completing successfully:
If the saved tray settings contains programming for stock
that cannot be programmed on another system. If the
saved tray setting for Tray 1 is 8.5" x 14', but the system
you want to load it on does not support 8.5" x 14", then the
