NOTE: Retain PDL files can be enabled and the maximum
number of retained jobs can be set with a range of 1-500
by editing the printSvc.config file.
NOTE: Time Period can only be used for streamed jobs. It
does not apply to spooled jobs. If your jobs are streamed,
then you must use the [Number of Jobs] option.
– Maximum % Spool Capacity: This selection is always
active when Retain PDL Files is selected. A spooled
job is a job that is completely saved to the input spool
before it is processed by the system. The Maximum %
Spool Capacity can be set between 1-100%. It is
important to realize that a used spool capacity above
85% can affect system performance.
NOTE: The following caveats apply if the maximum spool
capacity is reached:
If the job being sent is the only job in the system, additional
data cannot be spooled. A fault message is sent to the
user, but the job is not faulted.
When submitting a job and other jobs are in the system,
the system deletes retained job data in a first in, first out
(FIFO) basis to recover more spool space. Once spool
space is recovered, jobs are again saved. If sufficient
space cannot be recovered, the system stops saving it to
spool and aborts the job.
Select either [Number Of Jobs] or [Time Period]:
– Number of Jobs: Select the radio button to enter the
number of retained jobs that can be resubmitted for
printing once they are available in the Completed jobs
tab field in Job Manager. The available range is from 1
to 100. The default value is 50. Once the Number of
Jobs limit is reached, jobs are deleted from the system
in a first in, first out basis. Jobs also are removed from
the system when the maximum the Number of Jobs or
the Maximum % Spool Capacity value is reached.
NOTE: It is important to know that the maximum number of
jobs that will be available in the Completed jobs tab field is
reduced from 500 to 50 or the maximum number of jobs
entered in Retain PDL Files > Number of Jobs when
Retain PDL files is enabled. When the PDL Number of
Jobs limit is reached, DocuSP automatically deletes jobs
as new jobs are added to the system. The oldest job is
deleted first.
