6. The Format Diskette window displays.
To specify a volume name for the diskette, type the name in
the MS–DOS Volume Label text field.
NOTE: Only an MS–DOS format is available.
7. Select [OK] on the Format Diskette window.
While the diskette is being formatted, the cursor changes to a
watch symbol to indicate that the system is busy, and the
message "Format Diskette..." appears in the Status Message
field.
When formatting is complete, the Format Diskette window
closes, and "Done" is displayed in the status message field.
8. Select [Close] to close the Peripheral Manager window, or
repeat steps 1 through 7 to format another diskette.
NOTE: It is very important to eject the floppy diskette using menu
commands instead of using the manual release lever on the floppy
drive itself. See Ejecting or unloading Media, below, for more
information.
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and Remote Diagnostics are features
that can be used to access the system remotely for system
diagnostic purposes.
FTP is a protocol that is used to transfer files over a TCP/IP
network. Enabling FTP activates the FTP daemon. Enabling
Remote Diagnostics activates telnet and PPP (Point to Point
Protocol).
You can enable or disable FTP/Remote Diagnostics without
changing security profiles. Enabling FTP/Remote Diagnostics
takes effect immediately, regardless of the current security profile
setting and it remains in effect until the next reboot. Once the
system is rebooted, the security profile settings return to the
settings that were present before activation of FTP/Remote
Diagnostics.
Using FTP/Remote Diagnostics
To use FTP/Remote Diagnostics:
1. From the Setup menu select [FTP/Remote Diagnostics...].
2. Select from the following:
Enable FTP
Enable Remote Diagnostics
3. Select [OK] to apply your selection and close the dialog.
4. Select [OK] in the Information dialog window. The setting takes
effect immediately and remains in effect until the next system
