• Before you remove or make changes to drives, drive controllers (including controllers that are integrated
on the system board), drive backplanes, or drive cables, make sure to back up all important data stored in
drives.
• Before you remove any component of a RAID array (drive, RAID card, etc.), back up all RAID configuration
information.
The following notes describe the type of drives that the server supports and other information that you must
consider when you install a drive. For a list of supported drives, see

instructions in this chapter.

Install the bottom M.2 cabled adapter
Procedure
Step 1.
Align the bottom M.2 cabled adapter with the guide pins; then, lower the adapter down until it is
firmly seated.
Step 2.
Secure the bottom M.2 cabled adapter with six screws.

Connect the cables to the bottom M.2 cabled adapter. See

Install an M.2 drive
If necessary, install an M.2 drive to the bottom M.2 cabled adapter.
Procedure
Step 1.
Locate the slot to install the M.2 drive.
Note: Slot 11 and Slot 12 on the bottom M.2 cabled adapter are available to install M.2 drives. Do
not install M.2 drives to other slots.
