NOTE: Some consoles require that you use an AMM adapter. If needed, plug an AMM
adapter into the serial connector on the management module, and then connect the
serial cable. For information about the AMM adapter pinouts, see "Pinouts for the
RJ-45 Adapters" on page 212.

To connect the management module to a client computer using a serial cable:

The management module has the following default settings:

Connecting to the JCS 1200 Management Module Using a Direct Serial Connection
Connect the other end of the serial cable to your console.
The serial cable must have the characteristics shown in "Serial Cable
Characteristics for the JCS 1200 Management Module" on page 211.
Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist and
connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis.
Plug one end of an RJ-45 serial cable into the serial connector on the management
module. See Figure 30 on page 68 for the location of input and output connectors
on the management module.
Connect the other end of the serial cable to the serial connector of the client
computer, such as a notebook computer.
Configure the serial port of the client computer to the following values:
Baud rate—57600
Parity—none
Stop bits—1
