Valve Clearance
Adjustment
NOTE:
. Valves should be adjusted cold; at a cylinder head
temperature of less than 100'F (38"C).
Adjustment is the same for both intake and exhaust
valves.
. After adjusting, retorque the crankshaft pulley bolt to
177 N.m (18.0 kgim, 130 lbf.ft).
1. Remove cylinder head cover.
ADJUSTING SCREW LOCATIONS:

Set the No. 1 piston at top dead center (TDC) (see
p a g e 6 - 1 2 ) . " U P " m a r k o n t h e p u l l e y s h o u l d b e a t
the top, and the TDC grooves on the pulley should
a l i g n w i t h t h e T D C g r o o v e o n t i m i n g b e l t b a c k
cover. TDC mark (painted white) on the crankshaft
pulley should align with pointer on the timing belt
tower cover.

INTAKE
EXHAUST
TDC MARKS
lPeinted whitel
CRANKSHAFT
PULLEY
"UP" MARKS
TDC GROOVES
