Installing the lower unit
WARNING
When installing the lower unit with the
power unit installed, be sure to suspend
the outboard motor. If the outboard motor
is not suspended it can fall suddenly and
result in severe injury.
1. Align the center of the set pin a with the
alignment mark b on the bottom cowling
to set the shift lever to the neutral posi-
tion.
NOTE:
If the power unit is installed, the set pin a
and alignment mark b cannot be aligned, so
align the set pin c with the alignment mark
d on the shift bracket.
2. Set the gear shift to the neutral position
at the lower unit.

3. Install the dowels 1 into the lower unit.

Drive shaft and lower case (regular rotation model)
4. Install the lower unit into the upper case,
and then tighten the lower case mounting
bolts (nuts) 2 to the specified torque.
5. Install the trim tab 3 to its original posi-
tion, and then tighten the bolt 4 to the
specified torque.
È U-transom model
Lower case mounting bolt (nut) 2:
47 N·m (4.7 kgf·m, 34.7 ft·lb)
Trim tab bolt 4:
42 N·m (4.2 kgf·m, 31.0 ft·lb)
