NOTE:
Make sure that the marks b of the connect-
ing rod face toward the flywheel magnet end
of the crankshaft.
5. Tighten the connecting rod cap bolts to
the specified torques in 3 stages.
NOTE:
• Reuse the removed connecting rod cap
bolts when checking the oil clearance.
• Do not turn the connecting rod until the
crankpin oil clearance measurement has
been completed.
• In the 3rd stage, make a mark c on the
connecting rod cap bolts and connecting
rod caps, and then tighten the bolts 90°
from the mark.

Connecting rod cap bolt:
1st: 23 N·m (2.3 kgf·m, 17.0 ft·lb)
2nd: 43 N·m (4.3 kgf·m, 31.7 ft·lb)
3rd: 90°
6. Remove the connecting rod cap and
measure the width of the compressed
Plastigauge (PG-1) on each crankpin.
Replace the connecting rod bearing if out
of specification.
Crankpin oil clearance:
0.028–0.066 mm
(0.0011–0.0026 in)

1. When replacing the connecting rod bear-
ing, select the suitable bearing as fol-
lows.
