REPLACEMENT OF CRANKSHAFT SEALING CAPS
REMOVING THE SEALING CAPS
This operation Is to be carried out syste.atfcally
after crankshaft journal or crankpfn bearings have
been reground or, occasionally, If a sealing cap
shows a leak or is dislodged.
It
sealing caps are fitted on the crankshaft; two
sealing cap d! auters can be ff tted:
- 1 - the 8.55 di a. cap,
- 2 - the 9.25 dia. cap.
Consequently, before
re~ovfng
a sealing cap, Its
housing bore diameter 1ust be checked.
Use a
dri
ll shank to do so.
To extract caps, use a portable dr!l

a counter-piercing operation: counter-pierce 8.5
