RE-ASSEMBLING THE ENGINE
RE-FITTING THE TIMING GEAR COVER
-At end of crankshaft, fit spacer to rest against
crankshaft pinion.
-Use grease to fit timing gear cover gaskets to
cylinder head.
-
Use grease to smear cover sealing bush.
-Fasten cover by means of 3 THill 7 x 1.00-70
screws and 3 THM 7
x
1.00-55 screws, and tighten
to torque; then fit both front cover screws,
and tighten
them
to torque.
- Fit crankshaft pulley key In Its housing, and
f!t pulley on crankshaft.
- Place starting motor crown-wheel locking tool
In post tfon to prevent engine from rotating,
and tighten pu

screw to torque after Its
rasher has been placed In position.
-
Remove crown-rheel locking tool.
li~-FITTING
THE OIL SUMP
- Tum engine over upside down.
- In each packing holder cap side groove, slide a
tubular sealing piece between cylinder block and
cap, over whole height of cap (Fig. 37); cut
sealing pieces off If necessary.
-Use grease to fit oil sump gasket to cylinder
block.
- Fit oil sump, and set retainers
In
position.
Note: front and rear corner retainers are
different: front retainers are longer, and
elbgwed at 90°; rear retainers are elbowed at
114 •
- Allow 22 THM 7 x 1.00-18 screws, previously
smeared wf th a drop of screw thread 1 i ght
loctlte compound, to set, and tighten to torque.
- Fasten oil drain plug, fl tted with f ts seal, In
position, and tighten ft to torque.
RE-FITTING THE WATER PUMP
- Tum engine over vertically, with flywheel
downwards.
- Use grease to fit water pu1p gasket to tf;fng
gear cover.
-Fit water pump assembly with Its fan for 361
engine, or rlth Its releasable hub for 341
engine, and tighten 2 THM 7 x 1.00-75 and
5 THM 7 x 1.00-30 screws to torque.

RE-FITTING THE ACCESSORIES
-
Re-ff t autoutfc adjuster plug and Its seal to
tf 11! ng gear cover.
-Adjust rocking-levers by successively setting
each piston to co•pressfon stroke, or by setting
valves of same cylinder in balance, to adjust
valves of opposed cylinder.
