REMOVING AND RE-FITTING THE ENGINE

PREPARING THE »iGINE TO FIT IT 00
DISMANTLING STAND (if applicable}
- R11ove R.H. engine aountlng on cylinder block.
- On cylinder block, on exhaust side, fft adapter
plate fer d!SIIantltng stand (three
10
x
1.25
scrns).
- lift engine by aeans of a derrick or holst, then
fasten adapter plate to dlsaantllng stand.
R.EMOVING AND RE-FITTING THE ENGINE
Re-fitting
- Sling engine by aeans of lifting lug attached to
cylinder head, and run other end of sling around
exhaust aanlfold, on flange side.
lift engine.
- lower engine In engine coapart.ent, and fit both
sllentblocks In position In
cross-ae~ber
holes.
- Hold engine by aeans of retaining bar and of a
rope or sling running around underside of crank-
shaft pulley.
- R11ove holst or derrick and Its pulley-block.
- Re-fit gear box (see chapter
3).
- Fit exhaust flange In position on aanlfold,
using a new gasket, and fasten with 2 lower nuts;
- Hang exhaust pipe by aeans of 2 flexible rings on
cross-a11ber.
- Fasten R.H. and L.H. eng! ne aountl ngs.
- Lour

fft, and re.ove retaf nf ng bar.
- Reaove lifting lug attached to cylinder head.
- Finish fastening exhaust flange to aanlfold by
aeans of 2 upper nuts, and lock asseably.
- Re-ftt scrn
~astenlng
starting aotor to
cylinder block.
- Re-connect both air-conditioner hoses to dash
panel.
- Re-connect servo-brake hose to aanlfold.
- Re-fit radiator fitted with both hoses, not
011fttfng cool air
suc~on
tube supporting
bracket wl th R.H. upper nut.
- Re-connect radiator hoses to water puap and water
outlet box.

Run'
petro 1 puap supp 1 y tube through rf ngs fl tted
on Inlet .anlfold wamfng hoses, and re-connect
sa. e.
- Re-connect the following electric hamess wires:
• therao-swl tch to radiator:
• earthing braided wire to alternator tie-rod;
• releasable fan;
• thermistor to water outlet box:
• 3
alternator wl res:
pressure-swl tch;
• starting aotor supply wire and solenoid;
• distributor low and high voltage wires;

R
e-connect accelerator cable and sheath.
- Re-fit air filter assably with air Intake
con nee tl on to carburettor and oil fuu recovery
syst11.
-Re-fit bonnet, locating it to reference aarks
which were chalked on at removal stage.
- Re-fl t battery, and re-connect cables.
Make sure water drain cock on cylinder block Is
correctly tightened, as well as radiator cock,
and re-fill cooling syst• with water • anti-
freeze afxture (wl th al r-condl tl oner cock control
set on

).
- Check oil level or re-fill If necessary.
- Start engine, and check operation of all
indicator ltghts, especially the oil pressure
11
ght.
- Wara engine up, and carry out required setting
operations.
