GEAR BOX
GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
The gear box, which is common to the 160 and 180
models, gives 4
fon~ard
ratios, which are all
synchronized.
The aluminium housing is in two parts, the joint
p 1 anes running on the centre-1! ne of the fixed
gear and input and output shafts.
The draining and filling holes are closed by plugs
with fibre seals.
The gear ratios are as follows:

DESCRIPI'ION
The engine drive is directly transmitted to the
input shaft through the clutch.
The input shaft gear is in constant mesh with a
gear which Is
integral
with the lnternediate shaft.
This shaft is In constant mesh with the 2nd and 3rd
gears.
The 1st gear Is
engaged
by the
synchronizing
ring (A-
Fig.
2) moving towards the
rear, which has the effect of Interlocking the lst
gear In rotation with the output shaft.

The 3rd gear Is engaged by synchronizing ring (B)
being displaced towards the rear, which has the
effect of Interlocking the 3rd gear In rotation
with the output shaft.
The Hh gear, or dl rect gear, Is engaged when the
input
shaft Is directly Interlocked with the out-
put shaft through the effect of synchronl zing
ring (B)
being
moved
forward.
Reverse is engaged by the
d!splace~ent
of
reversing gear (C), which has the effect of
meshing
gear
(D), on the fixed gear set, with
gear (E) on the output shaft.
