REMOVING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

- Disconnect reverse light
and
neutral contactor
supply wires (Fig. 5).
- Disconnect selector rod on gear box.
- Disconnect kick down rod on gear
box.

screws.

- Resnove 4 screws fastening lower reinforcement to
cylinder block (Fig. 7).
- Re111ove

screws fastening lower reinforcement to
gear
box
(Fig.

and
remove reinforcement.

Remove 3
screws fastening the
diaphragm
to the
torque converter, using
a
32
end-piece fitted
at
end of
pulley
to rotate t he cran kshaft.
-
Mark
diaphragm/converter relative
position.

Remove
4 screws fastening gear
box
cross-m
ember
to body after placing
a
vessel under the
gear
box in order to recover the oil running from
th£
extension w hen the engine/ drive unit is tilted
rearwards,
- Remove
2
screws fasten! ng cross-member to
gear
box, and remove cross-member.
- Place a wooden spacer
(35 mm
t
hi
ck) between the
front suspensl on cross-member
and
the
oi
1
sump
to enable the engine/drive unit
to
be tilted
rearwards.
