Checking procedure
Carefully clean components with methylated
spi ri t.

- Visually check the surface condition of pis tons
and bo res :
• piston : any trace of seiz ing, sc ratches, or
rough area, cal ls fo r i ts repl acemen t;
• bore: any trace of sei zing, or deep scratches,
calls for the repl acement of the callip er
camp 1 ete.
- Th e following com ponents, available from the
repair kit, mus t be replaced systematicall y:
dust covers,
dust cover retaining snap-ring,
ring seals,
cross-shaped spring.

Re-assembly operations
Use anti-corrosion grease Ref. 28533 L lightly to
smear calliper bores and pistons (remember ri ng
seal grooves).
- Fit a new ring seal, also lubricated, in each
calli per groove •
M anual ly Insert each piston in its appropri ate
bore. M'ake sure not to f i t i t askew •
Use pliers Ref. 20839 T to push each piston in,
turning piston slightl y i n order not to damage
the ri ng sea 1 (Fig. 7).

- Use 20 templ ate Ref, 21640 C to set each piston
In correct directional positi on (Fig. 8).
- Use a sma 11 screw driver to fl t each new dust
cover and new retaining snap-ring in position.
