CHECKING THE RELEASABLE FAN

In case of a faulty operation of the cooling
system (e.g. temperature indicator pointer
persistently near red area), check as follows,
with engine idling:
a) check that thermo-switch
+
tenninal (grey
wire) is live;
b)
from battery •, directly feed successively
points 1 - 2- 3 of electric circuit (Fig. 3).
If, with direct supply at
(1 ):
engagement is obtained- feed
(2);
• engagement is not obtained- adjust air-gap.
If, with direct supply at
(2):
• engagement is obtained - feed
(3);
engagement is not obtained - remove, check and
clean brush-holder, clean slip-ring.
If, with direct supply at (3):
engagement is obtained-
replace
thenno-switch;
engagement is not obtained- there is
a
cut in
the wire from the thermo-switch to the brush-
holder.
Note: cleaning the slip-ring must be carried out
with a
c 1
ean
c 1oth and, if rea 11 y necessary, it
may be slightly
polished
with
a
very fine
abrasive
paper.
