DISMANTLING THE ENGINE
- Retain t!1!ng chain by 1eans of a length of wire
Inserted through two chain links, to prevent It
from falling In lower case (Fig. 5).
• Loosen 10 cylinder head setsc·rews, proceeding
In reverse order to tightening sequence.

cylinder head co1plett.
- Remove gasket.
Fit starting •otor crown-wheel locking tool in
position, using a

screw (Fig. 6).

GEAR COVER
- loosen oil filter cartridge, and remove
cartridge supporting bracket, which Is
fastened by means of 3 THM 7 x

screws.
- Turn engine upside down.
- Remove lower oil su1p fastened by

- Remove auto•atic adjuster, which has been
previously released (Fig: 7) •

- Remove spacer fitted on crankshaft pinion.
- Remove oil pump fastened to cylinder block by

- R•ove otl pu11p ass111bly with Its chain,
clearing it fro; crankshaft pinion.
- Recover chain adjustment spacers fitted under
pulp sole plate.
- Clear camshaft double driving chain.
Note: There Is no dls1antable link on either
oil pulp single chain or double chain.
In
addition, neither chain can be removed If oil
pump Is not removed.

fastened by uans of

to the cylinder block.
- Rnove crankshaft pinion, usl'lg a wooden

drt ver or a ullet, and recover key.
Note: If pinion is set hard to crankshaft
end,
use extractor Ref.
