FRX8000 RLP

Line Processors (LPs, RLPs) and LAN cards (Ethernet and Token Ring) are the com-
munications cards in FRX8000 and N74/7500 nodes, providing I/O for subscribers,
and trunks to other nodes. LPs currently supported depend on the node type:
Node Type(s)
FRX8000
N7400, 7500 486
N7400, 7500 286, 386
The maximum number of LPs a node can contain depends on the platform used and
any other cards present in the node. LPs are numbered, 0–7, based on switch settings.
Each LP (regardless of type) in a node must have a unique number within its node.
This chapter describes configuration of LPs and LAN cards, as well as channel map
records for T1/E1 LPs.
The FRX8000 RLP is a mother card with one or two attached four-port Line Interface
Cards (LICs). The RLP supports all FRX8000 port types. Port I/O interfaces available
are RS-232-C/V.28, RS-449/V.36, RS-530, X.21, and V.35. The interfaces supported
depend on the LIC(s)-all four ports on an LIC are the same, but two different LIC
types can reside on the same RLP, and some LIC types support more than one
interface (through I/O box and cables).
