Alarm Routing
Changing Alarm Routing On Line
21-4
Alarm messages are sent from the node at which they occur to one or more ICPs,
INMs, and/or NMPs, where they will be displayed or printed. Which device receives
a node's alarms is determined as follows:
Each node has its own record in the Node file. Each Node record contains the
parameters Level 1 Primary Node through Level 4 Primary Node and Level 1
Secondary Node through Level 4 Secondary Node, where Level is a severity
level assigned to every alarm message.
The
Primary Node
level will be sent. (This also allows an ICP/INM/NMP to send alarms to a
second ICP/INM/NMP.) The
which alarms will be sent.
An FRX8000 cannot send its alarms to an N7000 device, but an N74/
7500 can send its alarms to an FRX8000 device.
When a change (e.g. node becomes operational) occurs, an alarm message is
generated and sent to the attached printer (if present) and any NMPs specified
as
and
Primary Node
With this operation, you can verify the alarm routing parameters currently in effect for
a specified node and change them immediately. (Note, however, that any changes you
make here are not made to the database, and the next IPL will delete these changes and
re-activate the default routing parameters.) Because changes are not made to the
database, master status is not needed for this function.
