is a logical link between node and subscriber, on which calls are sent or received. The
physical line between devices may have a number of logical channels (also called
LCNs).

stands for "medium access control," which is the middle layer of a three-layer LAN
protocol.
is the "more data" bit in an X.25 packet, and indicates that more information related
to the packet will follow.
is an IBM protocol that performs transport- and session-layer tasks. One function of
IPX (see that entry) is to allow propagation of NetBIOS packets across an inter-
network.
is a series of points connected by communications channels.
is the Network Management Processor for FRX8000 and N7000 switching nodes.
is the executable that starts the management processes in an FRX8000 or N7000
NMP.
is a physical device that acts as a transfer point for data between endpoints of a
physical/logical connection.
is the network switch family that is supported by the current release of FRX8000, to
allow a smooth transition from an N7000 network to FRX8000. Nucleus 7000 (also
called N7000) is the general product name. N7400 is a DOS-based node and N7500 is
a UNIX-based node. N7500-ICP is an N7500 with local call processing capabilities,
and N7500-INM is an N7500-ICP with a user interface.
