2.8.13 ILLUMINATION OPTIC SYSTEM (IOS)

The IOS is a magnesium frame designed to house the light engine. The light tube and most optical
components are fastened to the IOS. All components except the second cold mirror can be removed on
their own; therefore, the need to replace the IOS is low. A full optical performance evaluation/
calibration must be performed when the IOS is replaced.

1. Remove top lid. Refer to

3. Use a #2 Phillips™ to remove the 1 screw securing the firewall, which separates the lamp housing
and the light engine.
4. Disconnect the LVDS and power harnesses from the FFIB. For details, refer to the Interconnect
Drawing.
5. Disconnect the lens mount harnesses from the Motherboard. For details, refer to the Interconnect
Drawing.
6. Remove the 3 hex screws (5mm) from the bottom of the IOS.
7. Lift the IOS out of the projector housing.
8. Reverse the above steps to install.
9. Complete a full optical report, which includes:
• adjusting aperture shadows
• reshooting MCGD
• verifying TCGD correction
• cutting new screen files
• verifying brightness uniformity
