CYLINDER HEAD/VALVES
INSPECTION

CAMSHAFT BEARING

Turn the outer race of each bearing with your finger.
The bearings should turn smoothly and quietly. Also check
that the bearing inner race fits tightly on the camshaft.
Replace the camshaft if the bearings do not turn smoothly,
quietly, or if they fit loosely on the camshaft.

CAM LOBE

Measure the height of each cam lobe.

Inspect the cam lobe for damage or excessively worn.
Inspect the oil passages and rocker arms for wear or
damage if necessary.
INSTALLATION
Apply clean engine oil to the camshaft bearings and cam
lobes.
Make sure the tab of camshaft is facing upward.
Install the camshaft into the camshaft holder.
