Recovering replicated data

Data recovery

The two ways to recover replicated data on the DL3D systems are:
Data recovery
Data failback
While recovering/failing back a NAS share, specify a unique name
for that share on the target system. If prompted, assign a user with
permission to access the recovered share.
Once a NAS share has been recovered on the target DL3D and is
visible, you can configure the backup application to access that share
using the appropriate mount commands (NFS) or UNC pathname
(CIFS). Since the NAS share is on a different system with a different
IP address, specify the IP address of the target DL3D while
configuring the host system that will be communicating with the
target DL3D.
Only one instance of a recovered share can exist on the target DL3D at
a time. If it is necessary to recover more than one instance of the same
share, the existing recovered share must be deleted before proceeding
to recover that share using another recovery point. Deleting the first
recovered instance does not remove the actual data contained in the
share as its replication checkpoint will still reside on the target
system.
DL3D VTLs are recovered without virtual tape drives due to the
possibility of virtual device resource limitations on the target DL3D.
Before recovered VTLs can be used, virtual tape drives will need to be
configured for the recovered library before assigning the VTL to the
appropriate SAN clients. See
page 60
to add tape drives to a newly recovered virtual tape library.
If a virtual tape library or NAS share has been destroyed or corrupted
on the original source system, the virtual tape library or share can be
recovered on a target system that contains the replicated data. Once
recovered, the virtual tape library or share is available for use on the
target system.
To recover a virtual tape library or share:
1. Access the remote management pages on the target system.
