You can change the mode of a virtual tape library from offline to
online state or online to offline state. You can move the media from a
drive or I/E slot to a drive or I/E slot on the same virtual tape library.
You can also unload media from the tape drives or I/E slots.
Use the Mode page to turn individual virtual tape libraries online or
offline.
To change the mode of virtual tape libraries using the Mode page:
1. On the Virtual Tape Library Actions page, click Mode.
The Mode page appears.
The Mode page lists all of the configured virtual tape libraries on
the DL3D 1500/3000 appliance. The Virtual Tape Library Name,
Current Mode (online or offline), and Serial Number are
displayed.
Note: Click the information icon
library information such as the policy-based backup window start and
end times as well as the replication schedule.
2. To turn a virtual tape library online, select the virtual tape library
and click Apply. To turn a virtual tape library offline, uncheck the
virtual library and click Apply.
3. Click Yes to confirm the mode change.
The virtual tape library mode is changed to reflect the new online
or offline status.
Use the Move page to move a tape cartridge from a source (slot, port,
or drive) to a destination (slot, port, or drive). The destination must
be in the same virtual tape library. The virtual tape library must be
offline in order to move the media.
To move a tape cartridge:
1. On the Virtual Tape Library Actions page, click Move. The Move
page appears.
