4. Select the Media Pool type (Application or Cleaning).
Application media will store data. Cleaning media can be used
only to clean a tape drive.
5. Select the Application Media Options:
a. Select the partition where you will assign the cartridges.
b. Select the Import Behavior that will determine the access for
the media the next time it is imported into the system.
– Scratch - Creates blank virtual media; does not import data
from physical media.
– Virtual - Creates virtual media; imports data from physical
media.
– Direct Access - Creates virtual media, but any data is
written directly to corresponding physical media and is not
written to virtual media.
c. Select the Initial Location that defines the initial location for
the media in the partition.
– I/E Slot - Sets the media initial location to an I/E slot in the
partition.
– Storage Slot - Sets the media initial location to a storage
slot in the partition.
d. Select the Export Behavior that defines what happens to the
physical media when its corresponding virtual media is
exported from the partition.
– I/E Slot - Sends the media to the I/E slot of a physical
library for removal from library.
– Storage Slot - Sends the media to a storage slot in a
physical library and takes the media offline.
6. Click Apply.
The Claim Media actions are performed.
