Configuring the Path-to-Tape function

Discovering physical devices

Use the Path-to-Tape (PTT) Configuration page to configure the
backup application specific server.
The PTT Configuration page is divided into the following sections:
Device Discovery
Auto Archive
Vendor Specific
You must discover and configure attached physical libraries before
using a backup application or auto archive. Use the Physical Device
Discovery page to discover and configure attached physical libraries.
Note: PTT options can be configured only when the Backup Application
Specific PTT license has been enabled (see
To access the Physical Device Discovery page, on the PTT page, click
Physical Device Discovery.
To configure an attached physical library:
Note: Click a Media Changer in the list to display the associated tape drive
and details, such as serial number, product ID, vendor, drive type, and the
intended use.
1. Click Scan for Devices to detect attached physical libraries. Any
attached physical libraries are shown in the Medium Changers
(Physical Libraries) list.
2. Select the new attached library by clicking the library serial
number checkbox.
3. Select an intended use for this library from the drop-down menu:
• Backup Application Specific - when selected, the library will
be used as a backup application specific server. The settings
depend on the backup application that you use.
• Remove - removes the attached library from the DL3D
configuration.
