Configuring and Managing Virtual Tape Libraries

Adding a SAN client group

EMC DL3D 1500 and DL3D 3000 Administrator's Guide
The Fibre Channel ports are listed with the virtual devices
(Virtual Medium Changer and Virtual Tape Drives) mapped to
the ports.
Use SAN client groups to allow backup hosts to access virtual devices
on your system. SAN client groups are associated with a virtual tape
library, SAN Client (Fibre Channel initiator on your SAN), and port
(Fibre Channel target on your system). From that association, the
SAN client can access one or more devices in the virtual tape library
through different SAN client LUNs on the port. If you have to allow
multiple SAN Clients to access devices of the same virtual tape
library, you must create separate SAN client groups for each SAN
client.
Use the Add page to add a SAN client group to a specific virtual tape
library.
To add a SAN client group using the Add page:
1. To access the SAN Client Access page, on the Virtual Tape
Libraries section, click SAN Client Access. The SAN Client
Access page appears.
2. On the SAN Client Access page, click Add.
The Add page appears.
3. To add a host access group to a virtual tape library:
a. Select a virtual tape library from the VTL drop-down box.
b. Type a group name for the SAN client.
c. Select a host from the Host drop-down box.
Note: You must configure a host before adding a SAN client group.
d. Select a Fibre Channel port from the Target list box.
e. Select the media changer and tape drives that you would like
added to the SAN client.
The LUN assignment is displayed next to the device.
4. Click Apply to add the SAN client group.
The SAN client group is added.
