Unloading the tape
cartridge
2. In the Source section:
a. Select the source virtual tape library from the drop-down list.
If the virtual tape library is online, click Offline to take it
offline.
b. Select the location type to display (Slot, Drive, I/E Slot) from
the Show Location Type drop-down list.
c. Select the tape cartridge in the source virtual tape library to
move.
d. To force drives to unload prior to moving a tape cartridge,
select the Force Unload (Drives).
3. In the Destination section:
a. Select the location type to display (Slot, Drive, I/E Slot).
b. Select the destination location for the tape cartridges being
moved.
Note: The Destination section lists empty storage slots, I/E slots, and
drives. Offline drives are NOT included in the list. Drives may be offline
if they have not been mapped to a host.
4. To reduce the number of tape cartridges displayed on the Move
page, type a barcode that the system can use to filter the tape
cartridges. For example, typing LTO in the Barcode Filter edit box
displays tape cartridges with a barcode beginning with LTO.
5. Click Apply.
6. Click Yes to confirm the Move operation.
The tape cartridges are moved.
Use the Unload page to unload a tape cartridge from a source (I/E
slot or drive) and return it to its original slot in the library. If that is
unknown, it returns it to the first available slot.
To unload media:
1. On the Virtual Tape Library Actions page, click Unload.
2. Select the source virtual tape library from the list box.
3. Click Offline to turn the virtual tape library offline.
