Creating a virtual tape library

Creating a virtual tape library involves selecting the type of library to
emulate, the type and number of tape drives to emulate, and the
de-duplication policy.
CAUTION
!
Ensure that your backup application is properly configured for the
correct number of tape drives emulated in the DL3D 1500/3000
system virtual tape library. Failure to do so may cause your backup
application to malfunction or cease to operate.
To add a virtual tape library:
1. To access the Virtual Tape Libraries Configuration page, click
Virtual Tape Libraries located at the top of the Virtual Tape
Library page. The Virtual Tape Libraries Configuration page
appears.
2. On the Virtual Tape Library Configuration page, click Add to
add a virtual tape library to the system.
The Add Virtual Tape Library page appears.
3. Type a unique name to distinguish it from other virtual tape
libraries on the DL3D 1500/3000 appliance.
Note: The virtual tape library name is independent of the hostname in

4. Select a Library Model from the drop-down list.
5. Select the Number of Storage Slots for this virtual tape library.
Note: The number of I/E slots created will be equal to the number of
storage slots created, up to 240 I/E slots.
6. Select the Virtual Tape Drive Model available to the host and
backup application in this virtual tape library.
7. Type the number of drives for this virtual tape library.
