Virtual Tape Libraries located at the top of the Virtual Tape
Library page. The Virtual Tape Libraries Configuration page
appears.
2. On the Virtual Tape Library Configuration page, click Create
Media.
The Create Media page appears.
3. From the drop-down list, select the virtual tape library that will
contain the media you want to create.
Note: The media types available are determined by the type of drive you
selected when adding a virtual tape library. The media capacity is
determined by the cartridge type selected.
4. Either select the default capacity for the media type or specify a
custom capacity. To enter a custom capacity, select custom size
and enter the capacity for the tape cartridge.
Note: Minimum and maximum values are displayed when the cartridge
type is selected.
5. Type the number of media required for this virtual tape library.
6. Type the starting cartridge barcode.
Note: You can type any alphanumeric string for the starting barcode and
the values will be incremented accordingly. AA will become AA0000,
AA0001, AA0002, and so forth. Starting barcode values with less than 6
characters will be padded with 0s.
7. Select the initial location of the tape cartridge from the
drop-down list. The initial location is where the cartridge is
stored once it is created. The location can be either an
import/export (I/E) slot or library slot.
Note: You cannot create cartridges with an initial location greater than
the number of available slots. For example, if 50 I/E slots are available,
you cannot create 60 cartridges with the initial location of I/E slots.
8. Click Apply to create the media.
