Running cartridge-based replication
Replicating a NAS share

EMC DL3D 1500 and DL3D 3000 Administrator's Guide
Cartridge-based replication (replication of the unique data and the
namespace of the cartridge) occurs automatically when a cartridge is
unmounted. You must enable cartridge-based replication on the VTL
to perform this type of replication.
Note: If the contents of the cartridge have not yet been de-duplicated when it
is unmounted, replication of the cartridge will remain in queue until
de-duplication begins.
You can schedule namespace replication to occur at a specified day
and time or manually run namespace replication on NAS shares that
have replication enabled.
Note: For optimization purposes, the underlying data is continuously
updated and will become available when a namespace replication is either
run manually or scheduled.
Scheduling namespace replication
NAS shares enabled for namespace replication continuously replicate
their unique data to the target system. The shares become recoverable
at the target system only when their respective namespaces (that
describes their content) are also replicated. Replicating the
namespace will be most efficient when it is scheduled to occur
towards the end of the replication window for a backup job. To
schedule namespace replication on a NAS share:
1. On the Source Role page, click NAS.
The Source Role NAS page displays the current replication status
for the share and information on the most recent namespace
replication that was run.
2. Select the NAS share and click Edit.
The Edit Replication page appears.
3. To edit the namespace replication time, select Replicate daily at
and enter the date and time to send the namespace of that share to
the target system.
4. Click Apply. The Source Role NAS page appears.
