Configuring early tape creation

The Import Behavior section specifies the default access assigned to a
cartridge the next time it is imported into the system. The default
import behavior is used for all virtual tape libraries. Changes to this
setting will apply to all future cartridge import operations. The four
import options are:
Virtual - Selecting this option will change the cartridge access
type to virtual. Data from the physical cartridge with a matching
barcode is transferred to a corresponding virtual cartridge.
Direct Access - Selecting this option will change the cartridge
access type to direct access. Data passes through the DL3D 3000
and is written to a corresponding physical cartridge. It is NOT
written to virtual cartridge.
Unknown - Selecting this option will return the cartridge to the
unknown pool with an unknown access. This option is used to
manually assign access and pool (cleaning, service, or
application).
To change the default import behavior for individual media, see
"Managing virtual actions on the media" on page
The Export Behavior specifies the physical destination when virtual
cartridge is exported from system. The two export behavior options
are:
I/E Slot - Sends the cartridge to an I/E slot in the physical library.
Storage Slot - Sends the cartridge to a storage slot in the physical
library and takes the cartridge offline.
To change export behavior for media already in the system, see
"Managing virtual actions on the media" on page
Early tape creation is a way to generate a physical copy of virtual
cartridge before an export operation. Early tape creation allows
export operations to complete faster.
Note: Early tape creation applies only to virtual cartridges with a physical
counterpart in an attached tape library. If the virtual cartridge does not have a
physical counterpart, early tape creation does not generate a physical copy.
