Overview of the replication process

The DL3D appliance can be configured to automatically replicate
data to another DL3D appliance as part of a disaster recovery plan.
Replication is the process of sending de-duplicated data from a
virtual tape library or NAS share on a source DL3D system to a target
DL3D system. This process is configured on a virtual tape library or
NAS share basis. The source system must have replication enabled.
The target system can store replicated virtual tape library or NAS
share data for one or more source systems. A system can be both a
source (virtual tape library or NAS share sending replicated data)
and target (receiving replicated data).
IMPORTANT
Disable space reclamation on the target system or perform it
manually only after replication completes successfully.
Replication transmits data over Ethernet using TCP. The source DL3D
can optionally encrypt the data in-line using AES-128 before sending
it across the TCP link to the remote DL3D where it is unencrypted
before it is stored. The DL3D uses TCP port 1062 for replication.
In DL3D 1500 and DL3D 3000 version 1.1, there are two variations of
replication:
Namespace replication (as in DL3D 1500 and DL3D 3000 version
1.0)
With namespace replication, replication occurs at the NAS share
or VTL level. The entire content of a NAS share or VTL replicates,
not individual files or cartridges. The source DL3D continuously
replicates the unique data in NAS shares or VTLs with
de-duplication and replication enabled as de-duplication occurs.
Replication is not complete until a namespace replication
operation occurs. The namespace replication operation sends the
metadata that describes the de-duplicated backup image to the
target system. A namespace replication operation can be
scheduled once every 24-hour period or be done manually at any
time. The 10 most recent versions of replicated NAS shares/VTLs
