LTO
Linear Tape-Open (LTO) technology was developed jointly by HP,
IBM and Quantum to provide a clear and viable choice in an
increasingly complex array of tape storage options.
LTO technology is an "open format" technology, which means that
users will have multiple sources of product and media. The "open"
nature of LTO technology also provides a means of enabling
compatibility between different vendors' offerings.
The Ultrium format is the "high capacity" implementation of LTO
technology.

NDMP path to tape
A licensed feature of DL3D 1500/3000 that permits the customer
backup application to initiate, manage and monitor the copying of [a
subset of] a virtual tape volume to a physical tape volume, assuming
that it originally wrote the virtual tape volume.
Since the copying of information is performed under the auspices of
the backup application, barcode synchronization is not required.
