Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
Replacement fan tray
Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2
CAUTION:
The fan tray can be removed and replaced while the switch is
operating. However, the fan tray must be replaced within 2 minutes of
removing the fan tray, at room temperature, to prevent overheating of the
chassis.
To remove a fan tray from the switch chassis (see
Attach the electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and

connect the strap to the ESD point on the chassis.
Unscrew the four captive screws, one in each corner of the fan tray faceplate, by

turning them counterclockwise, using the Phillips (+) screwdriver, until all screws are
completely unseated.

CAUTION:
Be ready to support the weight of the fan tray on the top handle
when the fan tray is pulled out of the chassis to prevent the bottom of the
fan tray from hitting the chassis.
WARNING:
To avoid injury, do not touch the fans with your hands or any
tools as you slide the fan tray out of the chassis—the fans might still be
spinning.
Hold the top handle of the fan tray with one hand while holding the bottom handle
with the other. Pull firmly on the handles to slide the fan tray out of the chassis.
