Complete Hardware Guide for EX6210 Ethernet Switches

CAUTION:
Before you remove a power supply, ensure that you have power
supplies sufficient to power the switch left in the chassis. See
Power Requirements for an EX6210 Switch" on page
Before you remove a DC power supply from the switch:
Ensure that you understand how to prevent ESD damage. See
Electrostatic Discharge Damage" on page
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available to remove the DC power
supply from the switch chassis:
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2
3/8 in. (9.5 mm) nut driver or socket wrench
Multimeter
Replacement power supply or cover panel for the power supply slot
CAUTION:
Do not leave the power supply slot empty for a long time while
the switch is operational. Either replace the power supply unit promptly or
install a cover panel over the empty slot.
To remove a DC power supply from the switch (see
Attach the electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and

connect the strap to the ESD point on the chassis.
Make sure that the voltage across the DC power source cables leads is 0 V and that

the cables do not become active during the removal process.
Flip the
switch on the power supply to the Standby position.

Enable
Unscrew the screw on the plastic cable cover that shields the input terminal studs,
4.
counterclockwise using the Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2 .
Remove the plastic cable covers from the input terminal studs.
5.
Unscrew the nuts counterclockwise using the 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) nut driver or socket
6.
wrench from the input terminal studs.
Remove the cable lugs and washers from the input terminal studs.
7.
Unscrew the two captive screws on the top front faceplate of the power supply
8.
counterclockwise using the Phillips (+) screwdriver.
