A-3 MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP ("CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT) CIRCUIT
CHECK
("CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT DOESN'T FLASH OR JUST REMAINS ON EVEN
WITH SERVICE WIRE CONNECTED TO DIAGNOSIS SWITCH TERMINAL AND
GROUND TERMINAL.)
1. Combination meter
2. Malfunction indicator lamp
("CHECK ENGINE" light)
3. ECM
4. Diagnosis switch terminal
5. Coupler "B"
6. Diagnosis connector 1
7. Relay box
8. Ground terminal
Disconnect ECM couplers with
ignition switch turned OFF.
Does malfunction indicator lamp
("CHECK ENGINE" light) turn ON
at ignition switch ON?
NO
Is coupler "B" (terminal "B12")
connected to ECM properly?
YES
Using service wire, ground termi-
nal "B12" with coupler connected
to ECM.
Does malfunction indicator lamp
("CHECK ENGINE" light) flash at
ignition switch ON?
NO
Substitute a known-good ECM
and recheck.

YES
"V" wire circuit shorted to ground.
NO
Poor connection.

Service wire open, "V/Y" wire circuit
open or poor "B" wire grounding.
