FINAL CHECK
Upon completion of inspection and repair work related to the above diagnostic trouble code, perform the final check
as described below.
Erase Diagnostic Trouble Code stored in ECM (PCM)
memory.
Perform driving test under the following conditions.
1) Check that malfunction indicator light ("CHECK
ENGINE" light) does not light during driving test.
2) Then make sure that Diagnostic Trouble Code No.
12 is displayed when diagnosis switch terminal is
grounded.
3) Unground diagnosis switch terminal.

WARNING:
D When performing a road test, select a
place where there is no traffic or possi-
bility of a traffic accident and be very
careful during testing to avoid occur-
rence of an accident.
D Road test should be carried out with 2
persons, a driver and a tester, on a lev-
el road.

Recheck and repair according to previous flow chart
corresponding to that code No.
(1): Start engine and warm up engine to
normal operating temperature.
(2): Increase engine speed to 4,000 rpm in
3rd gear in case of M/T model and in
"2" range in case of A/T model.
(3): Release accelerator pedal and with en-
gine brake applied, keep vehicle coast-
ing for 5 to 8 seconds till engine speed
reaches 2,000 rpm.
(4): Repeat above steps (2) and (3) 3 times
or more.
(5): Stop vehicle and then engine.
(1): Start engine and warm up engine to
normal operating temperature.
(2): Increase vehicle speed to 35 to 40
mile/h (57 – 64 km/h) in 3rd gear in
case of A/T model.
(3): Keep driving at above vehicle speed
for 25 to 30 seconds.
(4): Release accelerator pedal and with en-
gine brake applied, keep vehicle coast-
ing for 15 to 20 seconds.
(5): Repeat above steps (2) to (4) 3 times
or more.
(6): Stop vehicle and then engine.
