6E1-26 ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM (G13/G16 ENGINE WITHOUT WU TWC)
CODE NO.13 HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR CIRCUIT
(SIGNAL VOLTAGE DOESN'T CHANGE)
1. ECM (PCM)
2. Heated oxygen sensor
3. Coupler
4. To ignition switch
STEP
1) Remove ECM (PCM) and connect
couplers to ECM (PCM).
2) Warm up engine to normal operating
temperature.
3) Connect voltmeter between C19
1
terminal of ECM (PCM) coupler and
body ground.
4) Maintain engine speed at 2000 rpm.
After 60 seconds, check voltmeter.
Is voltage 0V?
Does voltmeter indicate deflection be-
tween above and below 0.45V repeated-
ly?
2
Does voltmeter indicator remain
unchanged at above 0.45V?
3
Maintain engine speed at 2000 rpm. After
60 seconds, disconnect vacuum hose
from MAP sensor and check voltmeter.
4
Is voltage 0.45V or more?
ACTION
NOTE:
D Before diagnosing trouble according to flow table
given below, check to make sure that the following
system and parts other than Electronic Fuel Injection
system are in good condition.
– Air cleaner (clogged)
– Vacuum leaks (air inhaling)
– Spark plugs (contamination, gap)
– High-tension cords (crack, deterioration)
– Ignition timing
– Engine compression
– Any other system and parts which might affect A/F
mixture or combustion.
D If code No.13 and another code No. are indicated to-
gether, the latter has priority. Therefore, check and
correct what is represented by that code No. first and
then proceed to the following check.
D Be sure to use a voltmeter with high impedance
(MW/V minimum) or digital type voltmeter for accu-
rate measurement.
YES
D Wire between sensor and ECM (PCM)
open.
D "Or" or "G/R" wire open
D Poor connection
If wire and connection are OK, replace
oxygen sensor and recheck.
Heated oxygen sensor and its circuit
(Air / fuel ratio feedback system) are in
good condition.
Intermittent trouble or faulty ECM (PCM).
Recheck, referring to "INTERMITTENT
AND POOR CONNECTION" in Section 0A.
Poor C19 connection or rich A/F mixture.
Check TP sensor, clogged MAP sensor
hose, MAP sensor, IAT sensor, ECT sen-
sor, fuel pressure and injector. If all above
are OK, check ECM (PCM) and its circuit
referring to "INSPECTION OF ECM (PCM)
AND ITS CIRCUITS" in this section.
Poor C19 connection or lean A/F mixture.
Check MAP sensor, ECT sensor, IAT sen-
sor, fuel pressure and injector. If all above
are OK, check ECM (PCM) and its circuit
referring to "INSPECTION OF ECM (PCM)
AND ITS CIRCUITS" in this section.
